Fireboy DML – KILOWI

Published

Yoruba expressions have remained an important part of the music of Nigerian singer Fireboy DML, who includes “KILOWI” on his 2026 studio album ZUKO!, with production credited to BIG FISH.

The title resembles the Yoruba question “Kí lo wí?”, meaning “What did you say?”. Its use reflects the singer’s familiarity with indigenous expressions, which have appeared throughout his music alongside English-language songwriting.

BIG FISH oversees production on the recording, which runs for approximately four minutes and forty-two seconds. The extended duration provides more space than most of the album’s shorter selections, making it one of the more substantial compositions in the collection.

Fireboy has maintained a strong connection to Nigerian musical culture despite achieving international recognition. His ability to incorporate Yoruba into contemporary Afropop remains an important part of that identity, particularly among listeners who appreciate the cultural familiarity of his songwriting.

The track is available across major digital streaming platforms. Give it a listen and share your opinion in the comments below.
